From Tulip – “At first I wasn’t sure I could do this but my friend Charlie told me I should. It is not that I don’t have a lot to be grateful for because I do. But no one has ever asked me what I cared about before and I didn’t know what to do with that. This is all new to me. My experience with humans has been one of trying to do all I could not to make them mad and to stay out of their way. They never really cared for me and to be honest, I guess I started to not care anymore too. I spend a lot of time just being quiet. Some see me as reserved. But truthfully, I’m just taking this all in. Soaking it up. Breathing deeply into the kindness all around me. This is a whole new world for me. And it is stunning. It is true that there is a lot of kindness in the world. But when you are locked away from it for a long time, you start to give up. My message is for anyone that feels they can’t find kindness, you are not alone. But there is so much more that you can’t see. Because kindness is alive and well. And I am so immensely grateful to know and experience that.”
