From Baby – “I am most grateful for the freedom of choice. You may think me to be captive in the sense that I cannot wander freely wherever I want to go. I am not running free outside to go wherever I could go. I am contained in a building. Sometimes within a room. But, I am free to choose every way I want to be. If I want to be a goof and zoom around the place, I am allowed to express myself that way. If I choose to jump up on the shoulders of one of my human friends and see things the way a human sees my space, then I am free to do just that. I can be a cat that hides. I can be a cat that desires human companionship. I can choose to be all those things at any given time. It is far better for me to be “captive” than to be abandoned outside with no one to care if I even exist. I choose to be loved. And I have been lucky enough to be chosen back. And for that, I am eternally grateful.”
