José

José arrived at the farm in late 2019. He was born in 1990. José was in desperate need of a home before winter set in and we were able to offer him a place to heal. He was in pretty rough shape when he came to us and he spent his first winter putting on some much needed weight. José is a very sweet guy who wears his troubled past in the form of being afraid of being left alone. Luckily, he has a whole herd of horse friends that surround him here. But you can still see the emotional scars that tell the story of where he has been and how he was forgotten. José has become very attached to horse friend Shawnee and Shawnee has been a great friend and caretaker to him. It is great to see him form such a close bond and to learn that he will never be left alone again.
