Barnacle and his sister Starfish arrived at the farm in 2026. Barnacle was born in May 2026 and were surrendered with several other kittens to a local humane society with whom we partner. Both he and Starfish have abnormalities in their hind ends that made it difficult for them to use a litter box, thus making them highly unlikely to be adopted. So the shelter asked us if we could give them a home here in the sanctuary. It has now been discovered that Barnacle does not have control over his bladder and has some sort of nerve disfunction requiring us to express his bladder for him several times a day. It is unclear whether he will heal from or outgrow this condition or if this is a permanent disability. But for now, he is a happy and normally active kitten who is enjoying playing with his sister and socializing with all his human friends as well.
While we do not know what life has in store for Barnacle, we will fully support him on his journey wherever that should lead.
