OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
We are forever grateful to the crew of volunteers who give of their time, talents, and skills to help in all areas of the farm operation. Whether it be folding laundry, sweeping rooms, cleaning litter boxes, working in the nature sanctuary, or socializing orphaned kittens, we appreciate all that you do!
How to Become a Volunteer at
Spring Farm CARES
The first step to participating in our volunteer program is to fill out a volunteer application. There is a PDF version of this below, or you can call our office to have one mailed to you.
The minimum age for volunteers is 13 yrs. All 13-16 year olds must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the initial tour/meeting and for subsequent volunteer times, at least at first. Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed by our Volunteer Coordinator/Animal Care Manager, then a tour will be scheduled so that we can match up your interests/skills/abilities with our needs here at the sanctuary. Volunteers make a great contribution to our animals and to our organization as a whole. We thank you for giving of your time and talents to help those in need.

Thank you Gita for years of volunteering and fostering kittens and cats. Gita has been a tremendous resource for us when we have had kittens and cats with very special needs who ideally needed a home environment to get one on one care. Gita has given her heart and home to many kittens over the years who were helped by her love and care to be able to then be adopted into their new homes.

Thank you Mary for your years of volunteering many hours with the animals. Mary arrives once a week and works in all sorts of weather, doing all sorts of things. From laundry to dog and cat playing and cleaning. Mary has done it all. The animals always are excited to see her coming, as are the humans!

Thank you Linda for years of dedication and sharing your heart with the animals of Spring Farm. Linda has been volunteering at the farm for about 15 years! She has watched us grow and go through many changes over the years. Linda is known by the animals as the treat lady. She comes equipped each week with treats for the barn animals as well. She works with cats, dogs, rabbits, and the barn animals as well, leaving no one out. Whether its bread for the ducks and geese, carrotts for the horses, or even the special treats for Amber the geriatric donkey (don't tell Amber I called her that!), including her favorite - bannanas. Linda comes in all seasons to share her time and heart with all the animal residents. Thank you Linda for so many years of being our friend and friend to all the animals!

Thank you Harold for sharing your time and your generous heart with so many cats who look forward to your visits. Harold has been coming to the farm for many years spending lots of time socializing cats and kittens so that they could be better ready for adoption. Harold has also given lots of TLC to cats who were going through some tough times and giving them that added support to help them through their crises. Thanks for all you do!

Thank you Billy for spending some of your time and heart with the animals. Billy and his family adopted cats from us over the years and now Billy is giving some of his time to help other animals in need. He is pictured here spending time with one of his cats who look forward to seeing him when he comes.

Thank you Michelle for all your time and service to the animals and the farm. Michelle can be found doing many things with and for the animals when she is volunteering. She is pictured here spending time with cat Dusty.
Thank you Ron for your time and dedication. The animals really appreciate the extra TLC from Ron as you can see.

Thank you Whyla for all your years of volunteering and helping us get more organized! Whyla is a clutter consultant who comes up from Virginia twice a year for a week each time and helps get us organized! She has taken on many large projects. Her help has been invaluable.

Thank you Alley for all you of your time that you donate for volunteering and helping make the animals lives even more rich. Below is Alley with Border Collie resident Mack, enjoying a quiet moment on the sofa. Alley recently celebrated a birthday and asked that she have her cake here at the farm. And, of course, Mack was a special guest of honor!

Thank you Richard for all your dedicated time in volunteering. Here is a great example of how volunteering at Spring Farm is mutually beneficial to animals and human alike!

Thank you Cheryl for all your volunteer hours. Cheryl is pictured here with Mr. Muggles.

Thank you to our Pet Expo 2009 Volunteers

A very heartfelt thank you goes out to Mary Schreck, Gita Conroy, and Alice Spring for their tremendous and successful creation and running of the Happy Hearth Cafe at the 2009 Pet Expo. These ladies provided and obtained donations of all sorts of fresh baked goods, fruits, and drinkables as well as tables for people to sit and eat. Each table was adorned with cards that featured a Spring Farm special needs animal, told their story, and also gave information about our Happy Hearth Spay/Neuter Program. The three ladies also then manned the booth for the day. This project took enormous work, creativity, and ingenuity and we thank them for all they have done and continue to do for Spring Farm CARES. A special thank you from the Spring Farm CARES animals!
