Petition for Positive Change

As the original sponsor of Section 353-a of Article 26 of the NYS Agriculture and Markets Law - commonly known as Buster's Law - Assemblyman Jim Tedisco has introduced a bill known as A8444 to 'increase certain penalties for violating the prohibition of animal fighting and for aggravated cruelty to animals and requires a psychiatric evaluation for defendents convicted of aggravated cruelty to animals'. In other words, to put some teeth in the law.

Another bill A9912 or Skye's Amendment will allow pet horses to be included as companion animals under Buster's Law.

To show your support of these efforts, please download a copy of the petition, collect signatures and mail it to Valerie Lang, JD,MLS, Assistant Professor, Hudson Valley Community College, 80 Vandenburgh Ave., Troy, NY 12180

To date thousands of signatures have been collected but there is no such thing as too many. This is an on-going project until these bills are signed into laws. Please add yours today.

NETWORK PARTNERS FOR ANIMALS

OUR GREATEST WISH
.....and maybe yours too, is that one day every animal that is born will be a wanted and cherished animal. Can you imagine a day when there could be a shortage of animals? Shelters and rescues would have to close for lack of clients. Creatures would be loved and cherished and valued for their entire lives. Not cast off in a whim but allowed to live a life filled with respect, love, and joy. Please join with us as we try to make a difference, one life at a time, one day at a time.....

MISSION/VISION STATEMENT

To pool our experience, expertise, ideas, programs, needs, wants, capabilities, cooperation and love for what we are doing to better the lot of the animals that we oversee and strive towards lowering euthanasia, alleviate suffering, neglect, and abuse, find solutions to common animal related problems (domestic pets, wildlife and farm or exotic animals), and to prevent the further reproduction of any 'surplus' companion animals in the state of New York.

To bring all sheltering facilities, sanctuaries, Animal and Dog Control Officers, Rescue Groups, volunteers, veterinarians, animal handlers, caregivers, and other such agencies/groups together for the benefit of animal welfare; by meeting monthly on a continuing basis to discuss and make efforts to find solutions for common problems that all of us experience.

To find ways to increase funds to all of us to better enable us to enrich programs and/or implement them, to improve facilities, expand services, and offer more to the community regarding animal care, education, and services.

To support one another in many ways; by keeping communication lines open, assist each other in case of emergency, i.e., unexpected overload of animals, share ideas and resources, possibly connect all of us regarding large scale fund raising endeavors, adoption programs ("trading" animals or transporting unique animal to a permanent home if one is difficult to find for the agency), or convention type events in one central location.

By one central office to keep us all connected, advise all agencies of conditions or events that affect us all, keep a lost/found system for animals, advise on potential collectors or abusers on a statewide scale, to keep each other in touch with animal related problems on a daily basis by the use of our Web bulletin board.
